IN PRINT: Interview with Brian Clemens for SFX Magazine

In 2011, off the back of a radio interview I had with the wonderful Brian Clemens, I visited him at his Bedfordshire home to discuss his extensive career and life in television and film. Gaining notoriety  as Producer and scriptwriter of cult British classic The Avengers, I was inexcusably excited to meet the man in person, and delve into his experiences of the Golden Age of small-screen fame.

SFX Magazine Issue 259
The interview, commissioned by SFX Magazine way back then, was for a special edition that never was (not uncommon in the world of publishing). Alas with a bittersweet ending, my interview finally made it into the magazine (Issue 259), but now paying tribute to Brian who sadly passed away in January 2015. The interview itself was easily five times longer that what's in the mag, and I hope to one day post the rest of it for all to read.

In the mean time, you can read the interview with Brian in SFX Magazine by picking up a copy, or do the digital thing via the links at the bottom of this SFX lates issue link.

AUDIO: Dame Diana Rigg Q&A at the V&A, London

It is apt that to mark the opening of a photographic exhibition charting the rise of our monarch, the V&A museum chooses a princess of televisual supremacy, Britannia's very own Dame Diana Rigg.

On 10th February, a mild winter evening, something quite special tingles in the air. Or should I say, someone quite special glides through the V&A cafe. Running a little ahead of schedule, getting very lost around the moving corridors of the vast building attempting to locate the subtly labelled lecture theatre (a vague notion of Harry Potter on his first day meandering Hogwarts springs to mind), something equally magical happened; a premature shared presence with the 'Queen of Sin' herself. Fleeting yes, but special nonetheless, as Dame Diana is escorted past me, to be settled for pre-talk pabulum. Fast forward twenty minutes, seated and primed with anticipation, enter Diana, the embodiment of of 60s propulsive meritorious cool, stage left.

INTERVIEW: Writer and producer Brian Clemens

What a wonderful chap. Brian Clemens chuckled and plugged his way through our interview with ease, like the seasoned pro that he is. Renowned for the ever-so classy handling of his slice of UK cult-televisual pie, most would say it was The Avengers; that quaint, idiosyncratic upper-class British adventure-cum sci-fi production, that Brian's name would ring most familiar. Not the only celebrity in the family, Brian is permitted to boast about his achievements; he even has a medal to show for it all...

The following interview was broadcast on The Geekend, Radio Reverb on 10th September 2011.

INTERVIEW: Author, Alwyn W Turner

As part of my reporter/ contributor role as Geek Girl on the radio show The Geekend, I was really chuffed to get Alwyn W Turner as my first on-air interview. I'd like to thank him for being a wonderful guest and for writing his latest book; 'The Man Who Invented the Daleks: The Strange Worlds of Terry Nation', which I devoured and also reviewed on the live broadcast. I think I can now remove my supportive third wheel, as my journalistic vehicle steps up a gear. After reading my interview with him, I would also highly recommend popping over to his personal website, which is a really good read in itself.
