AUDIO: Shallow Grave 20th Anniversary Event

"What's a little murder between friends?" Danny Boyle asks of us in his debut feature film, Shallow Grave. Released in 1994, this year marks the 20th anniversary of the film that introduced Ewan McGregor, Kerry Fox and Christopher Eccleston to the spotlight. Before McGregor was a Jedi or a big deal in Trainspotting, before Eccleston was the Ninth Doctor and the Messiah, before Fox was winning awards for her roles in Cloudstreet and Intimacy, experience the house-share nightmare of the 90s that'll encourage you lock your bedroom door at night.

Shallow Grave also features some other notable Scottish greats including Ken Stott of Rebus fame (and I implore you all to track down the amazing Takin' Over The Asylum miniseries featuring Stott and a whippersnapper David Tennant), and The Beach and Trainspotting screenwriter John Hodge.

Kerry tells us of her time working with Director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours, 28 Days Later), anecdotes on set about wielding a knife at Christopher Eccleston and adapting to the UK film industry.

Simon regales us on his adventures working with the Pope (yes, you read that right) and also Italian film Director Dario Argento (Once Upon a Time in the West, Opera), his link to the Sex Pistols, and what influenced him when working on Shallow Grave including Akira Kurosawa's films.

I recorded the post-screening Q&A with Kerry, Simon and host Amy Rapahel (author of Danny Boyle: In His Own Words), so please enjoy!

Recorded on 12th January 2014 at Brighton's Duke of York's Picturehouse, event produced by Soundstage Events.
